“Roam Around” unfolds as a practice of attentive wandering, moving through the world without fixed intention, guided by observation, rhythm, and encounter. The exhibition takes its point of departure from the act of strolling, echoing literary references such as Der Spaziergang (Robert Walser 1917) as well as the concept of the dérive, as developed by the Situationist International, understood here as a way of perceiving and navigating space through atmosphere, intuition, and chance.

Working as a duo, 44flavours gather visual and sensory fragments from everyday life, while walking, reading, or listening. These observations become the starting point for processes of form-finding: shapes are developed, repeated, and recombined into compositions that oscillate between structure and improvisation. Influenced by the energy of jazz, their visual language unfolds rhythmically, guided as much by intuition as by compositional decisions.

Formally, the exhibition is anchored by the recurring motif of the arch, an architectural element that frames, connects, and directs movement. As both passage and threshold, it operates as a visual structure through which forms are organized and perceived. Across painting, object, sculpture, and ceramics, this motif binds the works together while opening shifting perspectives.

44flavours’ practice expands painting into space, moving fluidly between surface and object. Their compositions draw from architectural forms, organic shapes, and everyday symbols, developing through a continuous interplay of observation, abstraction, and spatial translation.

“Roam Around” invites viewers to follow these processes, to drift, to observe, and to move through the works, discovering how perception condenses into form.
